They say the eyes are the mirror to the soul.
One of my favorite parts of travel is meeting local people in their true environment and learning about their lives, their cultures and traditions.
While recently travelling in Jordan we had the amazing opportunity to visit this Bedouin elder in his home, which was really nothing more than a very rudimentary shelter of branches with a tarp-like roof. He graciously invited us in and demonstrated the very serious ritual of "Coffee". Here it is the man's job to make coffee - from selecting and roasting the beans to grinding them, cooking the coffee over an open fire and serving iit n tiny little cups that held just 3 swallows. The hospitality is a very serious cultural tradition in Jordan and we were honoured to be part of it.
